LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

For over 10 years, KSLC consultants have worked to develop a wide range of school leaders including principals, assistant principals and leadership teams.  We pride ourselves on gaining a comprehensive understanding of the school leader’s educational landscape to effectively tailor our supports to maximize their professional development.  We align all of our supports with the tool the district or state board of education uses to evaluate the success of the school and/or school leader.  When working with schools and leaders, we immerse ourselves in a partnership to drive the success and development of principals, assistant principals and leadership teams.  When school leaders work With KSLC, they become better leaders.

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

KSLC has worked with dozens schools from across the country.  As a result, KSLC consultants have observed and provided feedback to over 500 teachers.  While we believe principals play a critical role in the overall success of the school, teachers transform the lives of students.  When students have effective teachers, their dreams can become their reality.  The foundation of all proficient teachers is effective classroom management.  As a result, KSLC created a proven Classroom Management Framework called “The Thoughtful Teacher.”  The Thoughtful Teacher Framework contains all the critical strategies needed for teachers to create a well-managed, student-centered environment.  When teachers incorporate these strategies into their instructional practices, all students benefit by having more effective teachers.

 

SCHOOL CULTURE DEVELOPMENT

KSLC consultants have worked collaboratively with school leaders to transform unhealthy school cultures into high-functioning environments.  We found the leadership skills needed to manage or transform dysfunctional school cultures are vastly different from the skills and strategies taught in administrator preparation programs.With many leadership programs focusing on instructional leadership, our leaders are at a disadvantage when leading schools with challenging school cultures.  KSLC consultants utilize a systematic approach to transform unhealthy school cultures.  We do not rely on the personalities of school leaders, but rather a coordinated network of practical systems used to improve every aspect of the school.  When school leaders partner with KSLC, they strengthen their ability to effectively lead every segment of their schools.

PRAISE

As a first year Principal in a new school system, I was assigned a Turnaround school with over five hundred students and eighty staff members. KSLC provided me with useful tools that assisted with developing a deep understanding of my school environment. The information obtained was then used to create a strategic actionable high-impact plan centered around strong professional development, defining school wide expectations, and recognizing growth of teachers and students through celebration. As we approach our last semester, its highly evident that KSLC has assisted with my staff embodying my sense of urgency and a deep belief that all of us can and must be agents of change.
